COLORS BY CLEO E. BROWN

COLORS
BY
CLEO E. BROWN

I want to jump out of my skin
And, back in again;
Chase the gray away:
From tan to pink; red to yellow; brown to blue.

Make me as tall and as slim as a green Reed.
Give me intellectual depth and mental maturity;
Unwilling to refrain from
Causing other people pain when
Ever they interfere with
Me.

DIAMOND IN THE RUFF BY CLEO E. BROWN

DIAMOND IN THE RUFF
BY
CLEO E. BROWN

I once thought
I was a diamond
In the ruff
Hiding my significance
Under grains
Of yellowed-brown;
Encased, reflected beauty
In the eye
Of the storm.

I am older now.
The diamond in the ruff
Is someone young
And captured
By the storm.
Youth blooms eternal
Like the mourning dew.

Bluest of moods.

Select scenes from yesteryear

Ne’er more do tantalize you.

Having no mind of the past,

Lust leaves an indelible mark

With purple… Continue

DREAM AWAKE BY CLEO E. BROWN

DREAM AWAKE
BY
CLEO E. BROWN

At night,
Thinking about you,
A visual image of
Your large, dark eyes;
A wide, gentle smile;
And, long, curling hair
Brushes over me
Before I fall asleep.
Sometimes,
Caressing you ever so softly
With the tip of my tongue
I imagine your hands
About my head
Stroking me
As I love you. Then,
I awaken.

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD BY CLEO E. BROWN

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD

BY

CLEO E. BROWN

Three Kings bearing Frankincense, Incense, and Murr

Travel to see The Christ Child.

The Night is mild;

They follow the star.

On foot they have walked

From near and from afar…

Traditions, customs, and habits

Abound around the World

At Christmas Time:

Grandma bakes her famous fruit cake;

Children put on skates

And glide across the frozen… Continue
